• Remind your broker to include with your stock transfer your name, contact information, and any special instructions for use of the gift. Contact Stacy Gallagher, Director of Development, at sgallagher@merion-mercy.com with information about the type of stock you are giving and the number of shares, as well as any special considerations you may have relating to how you would like to designate these funds.
• You must have owned the stock for more than one year to qualify for these tax advantages. Gifts of appreciated stock are fully deductible – up to a maximum of 50% of your adjusted gross income. 
• The value of your tax deduction is based on the average price of the stock on the date of its transfer to Merion Mercy. Merion Mercy sells stock gifts immediately on the day they are received, taking zero risk on the value of your hard-earned investment.

Through the Pennsylvania Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) and the Pennsylvania Opportunity Scholarship Tax Credit (OSTC), businesses and individuals in the state can earn a tax credit for up to 90% of certain Pennsylvania taxes when they make a donation to a scholarship organization such as Merion Mercy Academy.
