Our Spirit

Belonging in Action

Merion Mercy’s commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging is rooted in the Gospel, Catholic Social Teaching, and Mercy tradition and criticals concerns. Our central value to live mercy and seek justice begins by building an authentic and inclusive community with our students, staff, parents, alumnae and larger Merion community.

Our excellence is directly tied to the diversity of our community.

By creating a respectful and inclusive environment where differences are celebrated, we are committed to:

  • Continuously deepening our awareness and understanding of diverse perspectives and experiences.

  • Fostering a culture that values growth, belonging, and cultural competency.

  • Cultivating an environment where all feel respected, supported, and empowered to contribute in meaningful ways.

  • Encouraging thoughtful dialogue and reflection that strengthen our collective capacity for connection.

  • Aligning our practices, policies, and interactions with our Mission and Core Values, while remaining responsive to the evolving needs of our community.

Belonging Through Service:

Belonging Through Service reflects our belief that service deepens connection, purpose, and spiritual growth. Grounded in our core values, students engage in meaningful outreach that honors the dignity of all people and responds to the needs of our time—living our call to Live Mercy, Seek Justice.

Event Spotlight: Speak Up!

Belonging thrives when every individual feels valued and empowered to share their voice.

Merion Mercy students worked with the DEIB team to host their own Speak Up! event in partnership with St. Joseph's Preparatory School. By engaging in meaningful, authentic dialogue with both adults and their peers, students discovered the power honest dialogue has in shaping stronger communities.
