Down the road from Villanova University, close to Boathouse Row, near Center City and South Philly, and just over the bridge to NJ - MMA has a truly awesome location! View this map to give you a sense of where some of our students reside.
Getting here is easy!
There are lots of ways to get to MMA–by foot, on a school district or SEPTA bus, by car, train, van, or on the St. Joseph's Prep bus.
School District Busing
Students residing in a PA school district, other than Philadelphia, that is within 10 miles of MMA can receive school district busing to school free of charge. This includes the following districts:
|Abington||Rose Tree Media|
|Cheltenham||Southeast Delaware County|
|Colonial||Springfield Delaware County|
|Haverford||Springfield Montgomery County|
|Lower Merion||Upper Darby|
|Marple Newtown||Upper Merion|
St. Joseph’s Prep Busing
St. Joseph’s Prep busing is available to MMA students who live in Philadelphia, New Jersey, and most areas not eligible for school district busing. The stops and routes are determined based on student population. Shuttle bus service is available from the Prep to MMA in the mornings, and from MMA to the Prep in the afternoons.
The 2019-20 daily Prep bus schedule will be posted soon.
The average cost for round-trip Prep bus service is $1700 for the school year. For students that only require shuttle service to and from the Prep, the cost is approximately $300. Prep busing is provided either one way (a.m. or p.m.) or both ways. If you ride one way, the charge is approximately 75% of the full cost.
The Prep buses arrive at the Prep between 7:45 a.m. and 8 a.m. Two shuttle buses take students from the Prep to MMA in the morning; the first leaves the Prep at 8 a.m., and the second leaves shortly after. A shuttle bus to the Prep leaves MMA at 4:50 p.m. All buses leave in the evening from the Prep at 5:20 p.m.
On the days that MMA has school and the Prep is off from school, MMA offers students a modified bus schedule. There are three bus stops available, and MMA students travel from one of these bus stops directly to MMA. Students return to these stops after school.
MMA Northwest Shuttle Van
We are pleased to offer additional service and options for our families living in Northwest Philadelphia and beyond for the 2019-20 school year.
Currently, the Northwest Shuttle gathers students each morning at the Woodmere Art Museum and the Kohl’s in Andorra Shopping Center. This will remain the same for next school year. For the 2019-20 school year, Merion will provide an additional pickup spot at the Sunoco Gas Station at Henry Avenue and Walnut Lane.
In the afternoons, families will have two options for van service. One van will leave Merion at 3:15 p.m. and drop students off at the Sunoco Gas Station, Kohl’s, and Woodmere locations. A second van, making the same three stops, will depart Merion at 5:30 p.m. to accommodate students who participate in after school activities.
The cost for roundtrip van service for the school year is $825.
Students residing in the School District of Philadelphia receive weekly SEPTA passes at school free of charge. Students may upgrade their bus passes to a rail pass for approximately $5 a week. Visit the SEPTA website for the most up-to-date bus and train schedules and information.
SEPTA’s 44 bus stops at the school’s front gate. Students may ride the 44 bus to 54th and City Line Avenue, or to Center City, if transferring on to a connecting bus or other transportation such as PATCO’s high speed line.
SEPTA’s Paoli/Thorndale Line stops at the Narberth train station. Also, most trains on the Lansdale/Doylestown line pass through Center City and continue on to the Narberth station. For students riding the train, a complimentary MMA shuttle van provides roundtrip service to school from the Narberth and Merion train stations. See below for more details.
SEPTA Train Station Shuttle
Merion provides complimentary roundtrip van service to the Narberth and Merion SEPTA train stations for those who ride SEPTA rails. In the mornings, the van picks students up at Merion and Narberth train stations. In the afternoons, SEPTA train riders have two choices to return to the Merion or Narberth train stations: a van that leaves Merion Mercy at 3:15 p.m. or a van that leaves at 5:30 p.m.
Western Suburbs Activities Van
Beginning in the 2019-20 school year, Merion will provide an Activities Van for families living in the Villanova/Paoli/Newtown Square/Media/West Chester areas. The van will leave Merion at 5:30 p.m. and the potential drop off stops are at the intersections of:
Lancaster Avenue and Ithan Avenue
Lancaster Avenue and S. Wayne Avenue
Lancaster Avenue and Route 252
Route 252 and West Chester Pike
The stops will be finalized once we have determined the number and location of students who will use the van.
The yearly fee will be $500.
Due to township regulations, limited student parking is available on campus. A student must be 17 years old and hold an official state driver’s license to drive to school.
