Merion Mercy Academy has approved recommendations for safely allowing student-athletes to begin participation in summer workouts prior to the start of the 2020-2021 school year.
The plan will permit the resumption of physical activity as a Merion team based on guidance from the Pennsylvania Department of Education, Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletics Association (PIAA), and National Federation of State High School Associations.
These guidelines have been modified from the Athletic Association of Catholic Academies (AACA) recommendations and adjusted specifically for Merion Mercy Academy.
The adopted policy allows for AACA member schools to begin their summer workouts today (Monday, July 6). The first day of Merion team summer workouts will be Monday, July 13th. We expect to have our coaches’ training completed and materials in place by that date. Please keep in mind that there may be updates or changes to these guidelines.
You can find the necessary paperwork for student-athletes participation in summer workouts within your Family ID account. Each student-athlete needs to submit a completed “Summer 2020 Registration” form. They will also need to complete “Summer 2020 Workouts - Daily COVID-19 Screening” form each time they attend a workout. The registration form is currently live on the Family ID website and the screening questionnaire will go live on Monday, July 13th.
For new students, please contact Ms. Fisher (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you are interested in playing a fall sport and joining that team’s summer workouts.
