Swim Test for NEW MMA Crew Team Members & Learn to Row A swim test is required for all students new to MMA Rowing!
The group swim test has been scheduled for Wed., September 4th immediately after school (3:30 pm) at the Haverford Area YMCA . All new rowers must successfully complete a swim test in order to row in a boat. Parents will be responsible to transport their child to the Haverford Area YMCA – located at 891 N. Eagle Road, Havertown, PA. If the team scheduled date and time does not work for you, contact Joanne Gooding, Aquatic Director at 610-649-0700 x1414 or email her at email@example.com to arrange a time on Friday, Sept. 6th.
The test consists of the following:
Each student treads water for 10 minutes and swims 50 meters (one lap down and back). They must be dressed in socks, sweatpants and a sweatshirt while taking the test. Wearing a bathing suit under the sweats and sweatshirt is recommended.
Please bring a towel and large plastic bag for your wet clothes.
The cost of the test is $10.00 per student, to be brought with you in an envelope marked with your name.
IMPORTANT : Once the rower has passed the test, she should obtain proof from the YMCA and submit it to the Athletic Office at MMA.
Students may not row in a boat until they pass the test. Don't be nervous.....you don't need to be Missy Franklin to pass this test.
