Innovation and Media Services

Philosophy

The creation and communication of new knowledge through technology is not only integral to how today’s students learn, but also in preparing students for the careers of tomorrow.  For education to keep pace with the rapid advances in our society, we must continually develop, evaluate, and refine approaches to education that support inquiry, collaboration, feedback, citizenship, local and global connections, and curricular personalization.

Merion Mercy Academy has developed a culture of intentional and thoughtful use of technology to support transformative teaching and learning. Google Education Fundamentals is used to accelerate collaboration, reflection, and continual cycles of revision and refinement. Additionally, teachers and students use a rich array of digital resources to support learners’ capacity for evaluating and selecting tools that are effective for their task, goal, and role.

The Innovation and Media Services Department prepares students to:

  • be skillful and responsible users of technology
  • utilize software and web applications to solve specific problems
  • use technology seamlessly in all areas of the curriculum
  • understand the social, ethical, and cultural issues related to emerging technologies

Students are encouraged to investigate innovation, understand its impact on our world and become active creators of technology.
