Belonging

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging

Merion Mercy’s commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging is rooted in the Gospel, Catholic Social Teaching, and Mercy tradition. Our central value to live mercy and seek justice begins by building an authentic and inclusive community with our students, staff, parents, alumnae and larger Merion community.

"When looking at Merion, I was drawn to the level of diversity and inclusivity. Ultimately, that is why I wanted to come here."

–Emily Beggs '26, Broomall, Pa.

Our Commitment

We commit to:

  • Growing in our awareness and our understanding of diversity and inclusion issues.

  • Expanding our appreciation for the diversity in our school community and in our world.

  • Fostering a school culture of inclusion that is open, respectful, and appreciative of the diversity among us that enables all to participate and contribute to our Mercy community.

  • Creating opportunities for dialogue that deepen our understanding of realities and perceptions which may inhibit a culture of inclusion so we can intentionally promote a more inclusive culture.

  • Ensuring that policies, procedures, practices and behavior are consistent with our Mission and Core Values and reflect the inclusive community we aspire to be.

DEIB Student Leadership Team

The DEIB leadership team at Merion Mercy Academy is dedicated to fostering a culture of diversity, equity,  inclusion, and belonging where every student feels valued and supported. Through collaborative efforts, we strive to empower individuals, celebrate differences, and create an environment that promotes equality and belonging for all members of our school community.
