MMA Weekly • November 29, 2020 The MMA Weekly covers important announcements, the school calendar, and other co-curricular updates.
The "photo of the week" comes from the Ministry Office. The Thanksgiving Food Drive was a huge success! Through the generosity of the school community (students, faculty, and staff), 65 families were provided with Thanksgiving meal bags along with Shop Rite Gift Cards for their Thanksgiving dinner.
Do you have a great photo that showcases a great "Merion moment"? If so, please email your photo to Kristina Cawley at kcawley@merion-mercy.com. Announcements Don't Miss the STEM Lunch & Learn

Community Service Corps (CSC) Christmas Giving Program
In light of the limitations necessary for maintaining healthy communities, CSC's traditional Christmas gift drive, which MMA families and staff have supported for more than 20 years, will look different. We will continue to provide humble assistance to the individuals and families served by Mercy Neighborhood Ministries and to the residents of My Place Germantown. However, rather than fulfilling requests for specific gifts, we will provide gift cards that families and individuals can use to best meet their needs during this incredibly challenging time. We invite the MMA community to make the following donations:
Please tape the activation receipt to the gift card before dropping off.
More information about collection days will follow shortly. Designated "North Pole" drop-off dates and times will be available for families of remote learners.
Reminder: Kairos 74 Retreat Postponed
As participants and families learned in an earlier communication, Kairos 74 will be rescheduled. The new date will be announced in the coming weeks. Academics Looking Ahead to the Week of November 30
Click here for the schedule that will be used during the week of November 30. While our hybrid model allows us to optimize instruction to the environment (in-person synchronous and at-home asynchronous activities), when we are all remote it makes sense to combine the cohorts, as we are all in the same learning environment.
Students will meet for classes daily via Zoom, with both Blue and Gold cohorts combined. This schedule was developed with input from faculty and students to optimize connection, continuity, and meaningful breaks between video conferencing sessions.
It is very important for students to be on time for class and have their cameras on during class. Having cameras on leads to a much better learning experience for teachers and students, as it facilitates feedback, empathy, participation, and building relationships.
Both Google Meet and Zoom meetings enable participants to blur their background and maintain a desired level of privacy. Students may use an appropriate virtual background too if they prefer. If there are extenuating circumstances and students are unable to turn their camera on for a longer period of time or for an entire class, they will need to email their teacher.
ACT Update
Since students in both cohorts will be in classes throughout the day when we are fully remote, ACT groups will not meet the week of November 30. Development Save the Dates
