Since we launched our Mobile Merion Mercy online platform, our faculty and staff have been committed to maintaining strong relationships and academic continuity while providing community and stability for your daughters. They have spent countless hours reworking curriculum and learning new technologies while juggling multiple responsibilities at home. I am proud of their imagination, creativity and dedication.
The Administrative Team is evaluating spring events and developing contingency plans for a number of different scenarios. The importance of these events and activities is not lost on us. The impact of the coronavirus on the members of the Class of 2020 is especially profound. I am sure you share my sadness and disappointment at this disruption to their senior year. I truly hope we will be able to open school again this spring to celebrate the culmination of their Merion Mercy journey. But, if we do not, we will certainly find a way to gather to honor the Class of 2020, celebrate their accomplishments and launch them into their promising futures.
In spite of all the changes that have occurred of the last few weeks, life does continue. Yesterday was another "Slunch Day," an occasional Friday when a group of seniors and I gather together to share lunch and fellowship. And thus we gathered, not around one table at school, but around six different tables for a virtual lunchtime chat. We laughed. We told funny stories about being confined with our families over the past few weeks. And then, as you would expect, the conversation turned to the pandemic.
The girls talked about missing their classmates, the strangeness of their new routines, the fears they have for the health of their loved ones, and their commitment to personal responsibility. I was moved by their wisdom and compassion, and reminded that while we are not together physically the bonds we share run deep and cannot be broken.
We will be enhancing Mobile Merion Mercy in the days ahead. Please look out for a link to a parent survey in MMA weekly so you share your daughter's experience with us. We are here to support your family.
I pray for the health and safety of all members of the Merion Mercy Community.
Warmest regards,
