March 12, 2020 MESSAGE FROM HEAD OF SCHOOL Dear Merion Mercy Families,
I am writing to update you on decisions we have made about the evolving situation regarding Covid-19. After careful deliberation, Merion Mercy has made the decision to close the physical plant of the school and continue instruction remotely. Students will not report to school Friday, March 13, 2020 through Friday, March 27, 2020. Merion Mercy Academy will begin to operate online as Mobile Merion Mercy on Tuesday, March 17, 2020. This was not a decision made lightly, nor was it in response to any current or specific cases of Covid-19 at Merion Mercy. My decision affirms our responsibility to best ensure the health and safety of our school community while acknowledging our communal responsibility to slow the spread of the virus. Our Mercy values compel us to act to protect the most vulnerable among us by taking preventative measures through social distancing.
Tomorrow, Ms. Valerie Prucnal, Interim Assistant Head of School for Academic Affairs, will send students and families information about Mobile Merion Mercy. Please read this important communication as it includes valuable details about our new online learning community.
