MMA Weekly • October 18, 2019 Announcements Welcome to the MMA Weekly!
Rather than the weekly Timeline and monthly eNewsletter, Merion Mercy is now publishing the "MMA Weekly" every Friday, which will cover important announcements, the school and athletics calendars, and other co-curricular updates. Since the calendar is subject to occasional adjustments, please be sure to check the live calendar throughout the week too.
Admissions Events
A reminder to all of our MMA families with an 8th grade student: the scholarship and entrance exam will be held on Saturday, October 26 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The make-up test will be held on November 2. Please remember that our application is also our test registration form. Click here to register/apply.
Meet Merion Mondays will be held on November 4 and December 2 for prospective parents. We would love to have parents with daughters in 6th, 7th, and/or 8th grade join us! The event runs from 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. and includes an opportunity to meet a number of key members of our staff and faculty, visit classrooms, and participate in a Q&A with a panel of our students. To register, please click here to let us know you will be attending.
Traffic Flow
The Sisters of Mercy are going to remove the gas and oil tanks on the grounds and install a new oil tank only. The project start date is Monday, October 21. This project will impact traffic flow for all vehicles on campus as the entry through one of the back gates (the one near the cemetery/garage/childcare area) on Meeting House Lane will be closed for four to six weeks. The traffic pattern will remain unchanged, but drivers should note that traffic will move more slowly.
Celebration of Life for Ed Simpson Mr. Ed Simpson, a longtime employee of Merion Mercy Academy, died unexpectedly three weeks ago. Mr. Simpson served on our maintenance staff for 23 years and was known by faculty, staff, and students alike. He loved working at MMA and took pride in his work. He looked upon MMA as his home and the community as his family.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, October 24 at 3:30 p.m. in the Convent of Mercy Chapel, followed by a reception in the Dining Commons of Merion Mercy Academy. All are welcome to come together as "Ed's family" and a community of Mercy in faith to pray and worship our God of Mercy, who has called Ed home to eternal life.
Please email Sister Anna Saltzman at asaltzman@merion-mercy.com if you plan to attend.

Harvest Fest and Women's Day Celebration
The Community Center at Visitation (CCV) will host a Harvest Fest and Women's Day Celebration on October 26. It will be a fun-filled day for the kids and a day of pampering for the women living in the Kensington community. In support of this endeavor, CCV is asking the MMA community for a one-time donation of fresh produce. The donations will be used for cooking demonstrations and a farmers' market shopping experience. If you're a gardener (or know one) with eggplant, tomatoes, peppers, herbs, etc. still in your garden, please consider a donation. Please consider adding a bag of oranges, apples, and/or fresh vegetables to your grocery cart. There will be tables and coolers set up in the Lyceum on October 24 and 25. Donations will be driven to CCV on Friday, October 25. Katie Duffy Keating '77 and Kelly Stellar (former MMA moms) are coordinating the fun-filled day. Academics College Counseling
