Affectionately shortened to MMMT, Merion Mercy Music Theater is a talented, tight-knit, ever-growing group of young women who produce captivating works of art.

Theater productions are one of the most collaborative opportunities found at Merion Mercy. Practicing in the spacious and storied Sisters of Mercy Convent auditorium, cast and crew members become mini-communities where every contribution matters — the exact kind of belonging that the Mercy mission emphasizes.

While MMMT focuses on community and skill building, the program is also regularly recognized by The Cappies, competing against the top high school theater programs in the greater Philadelphia region.

Meet Chris Monaco

Chris Monaco Theater

Chris Monaco has served as Merion Mercy Academy's Theater Director since 2021. A graduate of Temple University, Chris holds a BA in Theater as well as an MA from Villanova University.

Following his acting career where he starred in productions such as Eurydice, Translations, and Little Women, Chris has turned his attention to guiding young artists on their creative journeys. He believes theater is about fascinating people and he most enjoys dissecting stories with the actors to help them tell the story with meaning and purpose. Chris also serves as a director for Upper Darby Summer Stage.
