Transportation

Merion Mercy offers fee-based busing service to all South Jersey students on our private transportation system that offers two bus routes to New Jersey. These buses also make stops in Center City, South Philadelphia, and other key Philadelphia locations to serve area residents. The stops and routes are determined yearly, based on student population.

The cost for Philadelphia roundtrip bus service for the 2024-2025 school year is $2,140.

The cost for New Jersey roundtrip bus service for the 2024-2025 school year is $2,675.

The Northwest Shuttle gathers students each morning at the Outback in Jenkintown, Woodmere Art Museum, Kohl’s in the Andorra Shopping Center, Sunoco gas station at Leverington & Ridge Aves., the Sunoco gas station at Henry Ave. & Walnut Lane, and Gypsy & School House Lanes.

The cost for roundtrip bus service for the 2024-2025 school year is $1,090.

Bus
SEPTA’s 44 bus stops at the school’s front gate. Students may ride the 44 bus to 54th and City Line Avenue, or to Center City, if transferring on to a connecting bus or other transportation such as PATCO’s high speed line. 

Train
SEPTA’s Paoli/Thorndale Line stops at the Narberth train station. For students riding the train, a complimentary MMA shuttle van provides roundtrip service to school from the Narberth train station. There are two pickups, 8:00 a.m. and 8:15 a.m. in the morning. The shuttle van leaves MMA at 3:15 p.m. in the afternoon. 

Septa Fare Card Important Points

• The cards are for residents of Philadelphia only and are intended to work for four years. The SDP has our school calendar and makes the cards active from the beginning of the year until the last day when they get “turned off for summer.”

• Students can come to the Office of Student Life to obtain a fare card. Information has been entered into the system for each student that qualifies for a fare card. The card number just needs to be added into the account. The cards that are given in the first month of school are already active.

• If a Fare Card is lost, damaged, etc.  it will have to be deactivated and a new card issued to the student. When a new card is issued, the replacement card needs 24 hours to become active. If you need to use it right away (and can’t wait the 24 hours) you can usually show it to the bus driver and explain that you just received a replacement card.

Due to township regulations, limited student parking is available on campus. A student must be 17 years old and hold an official state driver’s license to drive to school. All vehicles being driven to school must be registered with the Student Life Office. 

A limited number of reserved spots are available for Seniors only for a fee.
