MMA Athletes Recognized for Excellence

Twelve members of Merion Mercy Academy’s fall field hockey team were named to the 2023 National Field Hockey Coaches Association National Academy Squad. This program honors juniors and seniors who have achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher throughout their first semester. 

They are:

Additionally, Dowd and Figge were named High School Scholars of Distinction, a prestigious recognition reserved for those who have achieved a minimum cumulative, unweighted GPA of 3.9 out of 4.0. 

Nationally, more than 2,800 high school student-athletes from over 300 high schools were acknowledged for their outstanding academic achievements.

Winter sports participants were also recently recognized:

  • MJ Donohue '25 was named to the AACA All Star team for basketball. She received an honorable mention nod. 

  • Maddie McCloskey ‘27 was named to the AACA All Star team for swimming with her first place finish in the 100 fly at the AACA league swim meet. She also finished fourth in the 100 fly and qualified for the PIAA state swim meet, which will be held on Friday, March 25 at Bucknell University

  • Mia Longo ‘24 placed fifth at the District 1 swim meet in the 100 back.
