Emily Considine has been named the head coach of Merion Mercy Academy's lacrosse program for the spring 2023 season. Coach Considine comes to us most recently from Lafayette College where she served as the first assistant for the women’s lacrosse team.
During her time at Lafayette, Emily also worked to create a lacrosse club program in the Lehigh Valley by partnering with the True Girls Lacrosse organization. In one year, the club grew to over 120 athletes (K-12). With the initial focus on providing access to girls and sharing knowledge and love of the sport, Emily also incorporated a holistic approach, focusing on life lessons, encouraging a growth mindset, and cultivating player aspirations for the next level.
Coach Considine is a graduate of South Side High School in Rockville Centre, NY, where she lettered in lacrosse and gymnastics. She was an All-Nassau County selection as a senior, All-Conference pick as a junior, and contributed to South Side’s three consecutive division championships.
Starting out as a redshirt freshman for Syracuse University, Emily transferred to Hofstra University where she was selected for the Colonial Athletic Association All-Rookie Team. During her playing career, Hofstra made back-to-back appearances in the semifinals and finals of the CAA Tournament. Emily graduated from Hofstra with her Bachelor of Science in both Psychology and Community Health.
Prior to her stint at Lafayette, Emily spent three seasons as the assistant coach at Manhattan College and coached within the club circuit on Long Island. During that time, she also earned her Master’s in School Counseling from Manhattan College.
When asked about this opportunity, Emily says, “I am honored and excited to be named head coach of the Merion Mercy lacrosse program. I would like to thank Athletic Director Shannon Fisher and Head of School Marianne Grace for welcoming me into the Merion Mercy community and positioning me to take the lead on developing this program. I am looking forward to building on the foundation that has been laid by the previous players and coaches.”
The spring lacrosse season begins on Monday, March 6, 2023.
