Devyn Russo '18 has been named the head coach of Merion Mercy Academy's lacrosse program for the spring 2024 season. She played field hockey and lacrosse for all four years of her Merion Mercy high school career.
A graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with a bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences, Coach Russo works as a clinical research coordinator for the McKay Orthopaedic Research Laboratories at the University of Pennsylvania. At Pitt, she was a four year member of their club lacrosse program, winning a national championship her freshman year. She served as a captain her senior year and the vice president her junior year, organizing and planning the events for the program.
Athletic Director Shannon Fisher says, "Throughout the hiring process, I was struck by Coach Russo’s passion for the sport of lacrosse and the desire to coach here at Merion Mercy. She would like to share her talents and love of lacrosse with our community." Coach Russo had this to say about returning to her alma mater: “I am extremely excited to be back at Merion Mercy as a part of the lacrosse program. As an alum, I know what it means to be a Merion girl, and I know how hard working this group of girls will be. While I am here, I hope to work with the players, coaches, and athletic department to foster a team full of pride, spirit, and positive energy."
