On February 1, 2023—National Girls & Women in Sports Day—track star Simone Waheed joined five of her Merion Mercy Academy classmates in signing a letter of intent to continue her athletic career beyond high school. She has committed to the track and field team at Colby College in Waterville, Maine.
Simone has been a member of the track program at Merion for four years. She was named an AACA League All Star this past spring and finished 2nd at the league championship meet with her fastest time of the season in the 100 meter event. She went on to the District 1 Championship meet where she was the only AACA runner to compete.
In addition to her track accomplishments, Simone is a member of Mock Trial, Model UN, Mercy Mission Corp, Women for Life & Love, president of the Conservative Women & Free Thinkers Club, and a member of the Student Advisory Board for Pennsylvanians for Human Life.
Simone manages all of those commitments while having been on the honor roll for all four years of her high school career. She is a member of the National Honors Society, Rho Kappa (Social Studies Honor Society) and Tri-M Music Honor Society.
