Ricordia: Ring Mass Connects Juniors to the Eternal Circle of Mercy

by Sanaa Roberts '27

On Monday, April 20, about 90 juniors in Merion’s class of 2027 celebrated the first major milestone of their high school careers. They received the rings that eternally connect them to the mercy values that will continue to carry them through their mercy education.

Ring Mass occurred after these juniors enjoyed their day at their junior retreat. The retreat featured activities, bonding exercises, and bracelets that would be worn at the later event. The halls of the convent were filled with smiles, laughs, and anticipation for the biggest moment of their junior year. Students celebrated each other and the coming Mass that would unite them through rings, symbolizing Merion and their dedication to leading with God throughout their lives.

The Mass began with a call to worship by myself and was bookended by a reflection from Daisy Pinto on the ring’s significance. Daisy brilliantly blended her Merion experience with that of her family’s connection. The crowd showed their appreciation for her reflection through applause and support. A beautiful homily was also offered by Father Kevin. Together these speeches encapsulated the event and truly brought the community together.

The event continued with a reception where students celebrated the evening with photos under a beautiful ring backdrop. There were many refreshments including ring shaped donuts.

Overall, families enjoyed the smiles and rings now placed on their daughters’ fingers. Spirits were high and mercy filled the air as families celebrated the Merion community. Many left the school happy, bonded, and newly married to Merion! The night was a success for students, teachers, and parents alike. Students like myself are greatly appreciative of the work of Merion’s Ministry Team and administration.
