MMA Swimmers Perform at States

Merion Mercy swimming made a strong showing at both the district and state championship meets this season. At the district meet, Maddie McCloskey ’28 earned an impressive 2nd-place finish in the 100 butterfly, while Grace O’Driscoll '28 captured the district title with a 1st-place finish in the same event. The team also saw success in relay competition, with the 200 freestyle relay placing 7th and the medley relay finishing 8th.

Both Maddie and Grace qualified for the state championship in the 100 butterfly, with Grace also earning a berth in the 500 freestyle. At states, Grace continued her outstanding season by earning a 7th-place medal in the 500 freestyle. She also made history in the 100 butterfly, breaking a school record and capturing 7th place to become the first Merion swimmer to medal in the event since 2005.

As underclassmen, both swimmers have already left an impressive mark—setting the stage for even greater accomplishments in the seasons ahead.
