Merion Mercy Welcomes New DEIB Coordinator Taylor Stokes

Taylor Stokes, M.S., has joined Merion Mercy Academy as its new Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) Coordinator. A proud native of West Philadelphia and an alum of both the Academy of Notre Dame de Namur and Saint Joseph's University, Taylor brings a wealth of experience in higher education, a passion for inclusive pedagogy, and a deep commitment to service.

Taylor earned her Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice with a minor in Justice and Ethics in the Law from Saint Joseph’s University. During her time as an undergraduate, she made history as the first Black student body president and co-led the development of a diversity training program that has empowered over 1,500 students.

After graduation, Taylor returned to Saint Joseph's University as an Admissions Counselor, guiding students from high schools across Philadelphia and Camden through the college admissions process. She also continued her academic journey, earning a Master’s in Organizational Leadership and Development with a focus on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.

Taylor is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and serves on the Social Action committee of the Philadelphia Alumnae Chapter, where she contributes to community-based social justice initiatives.

Before joining Merion Mercy, Taylor worked as an organizational consultant, assisting organizations across the country in aligning their mission, values, and inclusive practices into their everyday organizational culture.

Excited to join Merion Mercy, Taylor says, "I admire the school’s Catholic values and commitment to fostering a compassionate, inclusive community rooted in Mercy." She adds, "I aim to create meaningful opportunities for dialogue and education, strengthen connections among students, staff, and families, and ensure that everyone feels seen, valued, and supported."
