Merion Mercy Academy Welcomes New Director of Athletics Janice Duffield

Merion Mercy Academy is thrilled to announce the appointment of Janice Duffield as our new Director of Athletics, beginning August 2025. Deeply committed to student-athlete development, Janice brings nearly two decades of experience as Director of Athletics at Albright College, where she managed a department with 24 intercollegiate teams. Her track record includes expanding athletic offerings, hiring and mentoring coaches, coordinating facility improvements, and building programs that support athletes’ growth and success.

In addition to her work as an athletic administrator, Janice has had a distinguished coaching career. As Head Women’s Basketball Coach at Albright from 2002 to 2025, she guided the team to five NCAA tournament appearances, including the program’s first-ever conference championship and Sweet Sixteen finish. Her teams earned multiple conference and regional honors, and she remains the winningest coach in the program’s history—a testament to her competitive drive and ability to build winning teams.

Janice understands the value and impact of athletics in the lives of young women and is committed to ensuring that each athlete has a positive and holistic experience. She recognizes the unique needs of student-athletes and will work to create an environment that supports their well-being, development, and aspirations—whether they seek to compete at the next level or simply enjoy the camaraderie of team sports. Her leadership will help elevate our teams and programs while attracting and retaining coaches who are aligned with Merion Mercy’s mission and values.

“I’m excited to be part of the next chapter at Merion Mercy and contribute to the growth and success of the school’s athletic programs,” said Janice. “This is a wonderful opportunity to help shape the future of our athletic community and foster a winning culture. I look forward to working together to create an environment where every young woman can thrive—both in sports and in life.”

Janice holds a master’s degree in Sport and Athletics Administration from West Chester University and a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Business Management from Albright College, where she played both basketball and field hockey.

“We are absolutely delighted to welcome Janice Duffield to Merion Mercy,” said Head of School Marianne Grace. “Her depth of experience, competitive spirit, and commitment to the growth of young women through athletics make her an ideal leader for our program. I’m excited to see how she will build on our tradition of excellence and take our athletic program to the next level.”

Please join us in giving Janice a warm Merion Mercy welcome!
