Anika Fernandes Named 2027 National Merit Scholarship Semifinalist

Merion Mercy Academy senior Anika Fernandes ’27 has been named a Semifinalist in the 2027 National Merit Scholarship Program—an impressive recognition of her academic accomplishments.

Anika is among more than 16,000 high school seniors nationwide selected as Semifinalists in the 72nd annual National Merit Scholarship Program. She will now have the opportunity to continue in the competition for approximately 6,700 National Merit Scholarships to be awarded next spring. To advance to the Finalist level, Semifinalists must meet several additional requirements, with approximately half of Finalists ultimately earning the distinction of National Merit Scholar.

At Merion Mercy, Anika is a scholar-athlete who participates in rowing and serves as captain of the tennis team. She is also an accomplished poet and is considering a major in business or economics in college.

Congratulations, Anika, on this well-deserved recognition! We are proud to celebrate this achievement and the many ways you contribute to the Merion Mercy community.
