What is Sip 'n Bid?

Sip 'n Bid is MMA's primary fundraiser. It is an annual night of highly anticipated auction bidding, food and fun! Instituted in 1976 by a group of dedicated alumnae, Sip 'n Bid is now in its 32st season. You can always count on the Sip 'n Bid event to be exciting and entertaining, while raising significant funds for MMA. This is a fun filled evening for everyone. Auction items cover a wide range of prices from $20 and up.

When and where is Sip 'n Bid?

Sip 'n Bid 2008, A Royal Christmas, will be held Saturday, November 22nd. Ticket price is $80 per person, which includes hors d' oeuvres, open bar, dinner and lots of excitement. The event is held at Merion Mercy Academy. Invitations will be mailed in the coming weeks or can be obtained in the Office of Institutional Advancement. 610-664-6655 x103

Who works on Sip 'n Bid?

The Office of Institutional Advancement oversees and directs the auction, with parents and alumnae volunteers contributing significantly with creativity and hands on assistance. The collaboration of school staff, parents and alumnae create an event that is both fun and fund-raising.

How does Sip 'n Bid make money?

The event derives income from several sources: silent and loud/live auction items, corporate ad program, the Golden Bear raffle, the Seniors' Quilt raffle, Pick-a-Ball and other regular features.

Where do the Sip 'n Bid items come from?

The auction committee needs the support of all of the Merion community to meet our goal this year. Many of our wonderful auction items come from our Merion families and alumnae. No gift is too small! We welcome all items! We also ask that families solicit a donation of goods or services from a business with whom they deal with on a regular basis.

How can I advertise my business?

Our auction book allows businesses to place an advertisement that will be seen by hundreds of loyal Merion families, alumnae, faculty, staff and friends. Prices of ads run from $400 to $5000 for a full-page specialty ad. Contact the Office of Institutional Advancement if you would like additional information on placing an ad.

How can I help?

VOLUNTEER! Everyone is welcome and there are plenty of areas where we need help - as little as a few hours is appreciated. Not sure how to help? Go to the on-line sign-up sheet and find the perfect opportunity to help.
